I openly admit that under good, normal circumstances that I’m not the absolute best about blogging on a regular basis. I don’t always have something to say (which is weird, considering I enjoy talking and having discussions). I’m fairly busy (aren’t we all?). Or when I think of awesome topics it’s usually around 11:27 p.m. when I’m desperately trying to fall asleep.

The past few months have not been good, normal circumstances. Long story short: my husband’s been pretty sick. For a full account of what’s been going on, head on over to my more personal blog, Shifting My Gears.

I’ll give you some time to read that.

Okay, now that you’ve read that, needless to say, I’ve had other stuff on my mind. Because, seriously. As important as writing is to me, my husband’s more important. Priorities, yo.

That being said, just because I haven’t been blogging here (or even updating my Facebook page…oops) doesn’t mean I haven’t been getting writing stuff done. I finished writing Between the Seamsquote from between the seams about a month and a half ago. I finished revisions last week. Woot! I still need to get it into the hands of some crit partners/beta readers, but I’m pretty happy with the finished product. It’s a bit shorter than I’d intended (54,162 words, when my goal was 60,000), but I honestly don’t know where I could add words without them seeming like filler.

Sometimes, stories tell themselves faster than you think they will. Sometimes, they take a bit longer. *shrug* It is what it is.
I’m also about a fifth of the way through Baseball and Other Lessons. While I loved writing Jo and Chase’s story, Matt and Jenn are so much fun to write. It seems like every time I sit down with my laptop or iPad and get into the story, these two surprise me. The good news/bad news is that writing Baseball and Other Lessons is going a little bit faster (so far) than Between the Seams did. The bad news part of that is the writing’s going faster because I’m writing while my husband’s sitting at dialysis. We figure with nine hours a week of just sitting there with him, I might as well get something done (and to be fair, I’m spending part of that time writing and part of it reading).

A release date for Big Girls Need Love Too is still TBD. I’d wanted to set it for late this summer/early this fall, but with my husband needing a kidney transplant I’m hesitant to set a date. That book deserves every bit of great marketing I can give it, and I’m worried that because of everything going on it won’t get that marketing. Stay tuned, though.

If you haven’t checked out my book playlists on YouTube, head on over there. In the meantime, here’s just one of the songs inspiring Baseball and Other Lessons:
